Sterling videreføres under samme navn og som selvstændigt selskab, dog kun som udlejer af foreløbig to fly til Cimber. Cimber vil fremover stå for al drift og salg af billetter mm.

Cimber vil fortsat blive drevet efter de samme kundeværdier, hvor fornuftig pris, den gode stemning og respekt for kundens tid er hovedprincipperne.
I første omgang er planen, at Cimber fra januar 2009 sætter to større fly ind på de eksisterende ruter mellem Aalborg-København og Karup-København, til de store passagermængder på morgen- og eftermiddagsafgangene. På længere sigt er det planen, at udvide med endnu 6-8 fly og ekspandere det eksisterende rutenet mod nye destinationer i Europa.
