Our arts and education programmes respond to nature, our traditions and the rhythms of the seasons, aiming to ignite our sense of natural curiosity, wonderment, and playfulness. At our core we believe that taking time to explore and learn in Airfield’s inspirational setting can contribute positively and significantly to our overall sense of well-being. Last year, Airfield began its programme of investing in its natural habitats by planting over 2,000 native Irish trees. This is the first step in creating substantial new habitats for the Airfield estate which will increase its biodiversity and attractiveness. The planting was done around the periphery of the estate and we hope to be able to enjoy this native Irish woodland for hundred’s of years to come. Our next project starting this year, is the creation of a new wet woodland. This water body will be created using all natural materials and will hopefully become the home for new bird life, other wildlife, flora and fauna. Once the water body is in place, peripheral planting will be carried out to compliment, attract and support new eco systems and biodiversity.   Download our Autumn Programme of Events here   Current Events: Wednesday is Gardening Day at Airfield 2pm every Wednesday Ticket included in entry fee to the walk Season ticket holders come free Each week we will give a short tour, a talk or a practical demonstration on what to do in the garden in Autumn.
